When we talk with global creatives, we love asking what inspires them. It probably comes as no surprise that travel is a huge source of inspiration for many. We also have noticed one city that comes up frequently: Mexico City. Check out what our designers have to say about the densely populated, high-altitude capital of Mexico.

Javier Reynaga, Furniture Designer

“…Mexico City for its rich cultural heritage and the coexistence of tradition and modernity.”

Claudina Flores, Architect, Designer, Furniture Designer

“Mexico City. I believe it has an impressive vibe starting from the cultural, social, artistic and gastronomic heritage that has re-configured the experience for visitors but has also made a difference over the years in its constant evolution, growth, and multicultural free spirit.”

But it isn’t just Mexican designers that look towards el capital for design and to spark creative energies. Designers from Florida, California, and Guatemala also enjoy the design and cultural immersion offered at every turn in Mexico City.

Michael Dolatowski, Interior Designer, Architect and Furniture Designer

“For me, Mexico City is the most exciting city in the world right now, especially in the design space. It's a place I never want to leave and always want to return to and a constant source of inspiration for me both personally and professionally.”

Estefania de Ros, Furniture Designer

“Mexico City – such a vibrant city in Latin America. I love the culture and it's similar to Guatemala City but multiplied 1000 times in all the different parts from the culture, the arts, the food to its actual size.”

Adi Goodrich, Spatial Designer, Interior, and Furniture Designer

“Mexico City has layers of life, and layers of materials, and layers upon layers of history that drive me wild and create such an incredible array of imagery to become obsessed with. I can’t stop noting beautiful colors and materials and signage and combinations of all of these things all at once.”

If you’re looking for a city to visit that’s brimming with culture, color, and a feast for the senses, we think a trip to Mexico City might be in the cards for you. And remember:

Travel is not a reward for the working, it’s education for the living.”
