A digital destination covering the people and projects impacting the built environment.

Great design is more than just beautiful to look at. It is intentional and has a deeper story than what the average eye sees at face value.

We believe that the people behind architecture, interior design, furniture, millwork, and other creative endeavors are the driving force behind transforming the world we live in. These are the people behind the brands. These are the people that can inspire future generations to keep designing, keep building, and keep proving how humans can evolve and improve our built world.

Design Storytellers is where these makers share their creative processes, enlighten us with their wisdom, and tell us about the way they see they world and how their work fits within it.

Design Storytellers is led by Erika Thomas, a Miami-based design lover and writer.

She has worked in hospitality public relations for almost a decade (Delano, Shore Club, Mondrian, EAST Miami, Rosewood Baha Mar), bridging partnerships with creators for in-house residencies and special collaborations for citywide events like Art Basel Miami Beach. She was a key part of launching the first culture site for Morgans Hotel Group.

When she started design school at Parsons in January 2024, she began to understand more of the methodical process, and multiple people involved, in architecture, interiors, and other design work. That’s where the idea for Design Storytellers was born.

Erika also writes design commentary and contributed content for the Miami New Times and the Miami Design District.
